Vintage Louis Rousselet Necklace

Fully knotted on silk, this delightful and elegant vintage necklace is attributed to Louis Rousselet (1892-1980); he was a celebrated French jewellery designer.
The design is typical of his style and features mottled green glass beads, like mock Peking glass, which was a favourite of designers of the time. This necklace design is quite distinctive of his jewellery house in Paris.
The unusual cylindrical metal openwork beads are pierced to show green glass interiors. Rousselet liked to experiment with new materials and metals and this necklace is a wonderful example of his etched metal beadwork.
The necklace measures 46cm (18 inches) and the beads are strung on the original chain, which fastens with the original barrel screw clasp, signed ‘MADE IN FRANCE’ and usual for a Rousselet original.
This is a wonderful example of a period necklace by a well-known and celebrated French jewellery designer.
