Fully knotted on silk, this is a set of gold and silver baroque, cultured freshwater Edison pearls, alternating with faceted banded agate beads and red glass faceted spacer beads.
Named Edison in the West, after the inventor of the lighthouse light, because these pearls are so shiny! In the East they are known as ‘Starburst’ pearls. These freshwater pearls originate from China, where the oysters are nucleated using the same method as South Sea pearls.
This necklace is made with alternating smoothly faceted 10mm round banded agate beads in pale warm grey and white bands. The red glass spacer beads and the silver miyuki galvanised glass beads add a twinkle and colourful accent to the design.
The pearls measure from 10mm to 12mm and the rocker clasp is 925 silver. It opens by squeezing the silver bean, to reveal an opening into which you push the silver bullet. Rather like a snapdragon flower! It is very secure.
The necklace is sold with a matching pair of drop earrings on silver-plated hook backs, for pierced ears.
