White ‘Peanut’ Freshwater Pearls

FW412E7282

Hand-knotted on pink silk, the necklace is made from white peanut pearls with silver overtones.

These pearls are called ‘peanut’ because of their shape.  They are nucleated using two beads, which join in the layering of the liquid nacre, the natural process of pearl production inside the body of the mollusc.

As they are natural in final shape, they do vary.  The necklace measures 44cms (17 inches) long and has 54 peanut pearls.

The clasp is a silver gilt bolt ring, which opens by pulling back the trigger to fasten and release, catching the opposing double ring.
