Vintage 1940s Spatter Glass Beads

VN59E5

An unusual 1940s fine wired necklace of coffee-coloured glass beads trailed with brown, orange and white glass spatters.

The coffee-coloured oval beads are rolled into shape and a spatter of coloured glass droplets sprayed over them.  As they turn and cool the colours blur a little, forming the trailed colours over the surfaces of the beads.

They are handmade and each bead is made individually, so they are all unique.  The trailed beads measure approximately 8- 10mm each and alternate with tiny lampwork orange glass spacers.

The necklace, which is hand-wired together on fine silver tone metal wires, measures 106cms (just under 42 inches) long. There is no clasp as the necklace lifts comfortably over the head, making it easy to put on.

It is secure and in excellent condition; there is no visible damage to the beads.
