Vintage 1930’s Pressed Swirl Glass Beads

Each bead has been made in two halves and the halves pressed together. These are often from Czechoslovakia and each bead is pressed individually, so they are all unique.

In this necklace the bead halves are made of black and white glass swirled together, whilst still molten, then pressed together, giving a seam effect on each bead and often making the two halves different.  The beads are round, and are graduated with the largest at the bottom front.

The larger beads measure from measure 10-15mm and the smaller, beads measure 4-8mm.  The necklace measures 74cms (29 inches) and contains 9 large and numerous small beads.

The clasp is the original brass bolt ring clasp, opened and closed by pulling on the trigger to release or close over the ring.  However, the necklace can easily be dropped over the head without opening the clasp, making it easy to wear.

The necklace is now re-wired and secure and in excellent condition.  There is no visible damage to the beads and it is an excellent and striking example of this style of necklace.

The necklace is sold with a matching pair of glass bead drop earrings, on gold-plated hook-backs, for pierced ears.
