Vintage 1930s Pink & Gold Foil Ceramic Beads

This is a rare necklace and in excellent condition!

Recently fully knotted on silk, these 1930s pink and gold foil glass beads are a rare colour and quality and are sometimes called ‘cats eye’ beads because of their shining centres.  Each bead has been made by pressing foil sheet fragments into the caramel coated ceramic base bead, drizzling pink glass over the top.  These are traditionally Italian by manufacture and each bead is made individually, so they are all unique.

The foil beads are graduated in size from 6mm to 10mm at the front.  The necklace measures 51 cm (20 inches).

The foil beads are spaced with matt bronze glass mini beads and capped with copper coated metal bead caps at the front.  This allows them to bend round the front, without showing the thread.  There are 43 foil beads.

The clasp is a silver gilt ring bolt.  There is no visible damage to the beads and all occlusions and swirls are part of the original glass-blowing technique, during their manufacture.

A simply stunning, rare vintage piece!

The necklace is sold with a matching pair of matching drop earrings on rose gold silver gilt ball and post findings with butterfly backs for pierced ears.
