Golden Pink Baroque Edisons

Fully knotted on silk, this is a set of golden pink, baroque, cultured freshwater Edison pearls.

Named Edison in the West, after the inventor of the lighthouse light, because they are so shiny!  In the East they are known as ‘Starburst’ pearls.  They have a gold overtone and good lustre (the surface shine), but there are slight surface marks on the nacre, which are natural to these pearls.

These freshwater pearls originate from China, where the oysters are nucleated using the same method as South Sea pearls.  The soft pink shades are natural and pink is one of the rarest colours of pearl.  Only freshwater creatures can produce the pink range of colours naturally.

This necklace is a gentle string of soft golden pinks measuring 8-10mms. The pear drop shape is natural to baroque Edison pearls. The necklace length is 51cms (20 inches) and has 43 pearls.

The rocker clasp is 925 silver.  It opens by squeezing the etched silver bean, to reveal an opening into which you push the silver bullet.  Rather like a snapdragon flower!  It is very secure.

The set is completed with a pair of matching silver-plated hook backed earrings for pierced ears.
