This rare and extraordinary guilloche and champlevé enamel on gilt brass Art Nouveau buckle dates from the period before the First World War. Enamelled on gilt brass in perfect detail, it shows two blue daisy-like flowers with entwined green leaves. The champlevé style of enamelling picks out the outline of the flowers in a slender brass and cream enamel frame.
A rare statement piece, suspended on a single string of large 10mm beautiful, white round freshwater pearls, alternating with green tiger’s eye and natural blue lapis lazuli beads. These colours reflect those in the buckle, which measures 7.5cms (3 inches) long and 5cms
(2 inches) at its widest point. The buckle has been gently squeezed shut so it doesn’t open when worn and it can be easily put on over the head. The string is 75cms (just under 30 inches) in length.
It is accompanied by a matching bracelet which measures 24cms (rounding to 9 inches when worn), with a silver gilt bolt ring clasp.
The necklace and bracelet set is sold with a pair of silver gilt drop earrings made from matching pearls, tiger’s eye and lapis lazuli beads with ball, post and butterfly backs.
